🌍 From Streets to Workplaces: Gen Z’s Fight for a Future
In Nepal, we just witnessed something historic: 👉 A Gen Z-led protest that forced a government to resign after a social media ban sparked nationwide outrage. 👉 The movement wasn’t just about apps—it was about corruption, inequality, and lack of opportunities.
While this may feel far away from boardrooms and job markets, the parallels are striking.
⚠️ Gen G’s Silent Struggle
As Gen Z globally (let’s call them Gen G — Graduates) enters the workforce, they are not storming the streets… but they are hitting barriers:
🇺🇸 U.S. Reality
📉 Burning Glass Institute (2025): Entry-level postings (≤3 years experience) in AI-exposed roles like marketing, finance, and project management have fallen sharply, while senior roles rise. 💼 Indeed Hiring Lab (2025): Internship postings remain below 2019 levels, closing off early-career pipelines. 🎓 52% of the Class of 2023 were in jobs not requiring a degree one year after graduation. 📊 Unemployment among new grads (20–24) is 9.3% (BLS/NACE, Aug 2025).
🇮🇳 India’s Picture
📉 TeamLease EdTech (H2 2025): Fresher hiring intent slipped to 70%, down from 74% in H1. 🏫 Campus placements are slower and thinner than last year. ⏳ Many IT graduates from 2023–24 are still waiting for onboarding. 📊 Youth unemployment remains at 10.2% (PLFS 2023–24). 📖 India Skills Report 2025: Widening skill mismatches compound the challenge.
Gen Z in Nepal raised their voice on the streets, However, Gen G worldwide is searching for their first real foothold in the workplace.
👉 Will the ladder of opportunity be rebuilt before it disappears?
